David's Educational Work
Royal Northern College of Music
David regularly gave workshops at the Royal Northern College of Music for their community outreach projects. He was also involved with their Summer School, running workshops and being involved with the end of school concerts.
Warrington's arts and culture service
He ran workshops of samba drumming and Zimbabwean xylophone playing at various different primary schools in and around Warrington. In a normal week He would run eight workshops, over three days, in eight different schools to approximately 200 children.
Rochdale Music Service
He was a peripatetic for the music service for two years, giving mainly one-to-one and small group classes of drumkit and percussion, to children in primary and secondary schools.
Orquesta sinfónica del Cusco
Whilst in Peru, David taught the percussionists of the Symphony Orchestra in Cusco. He performed with them, appeared on Peruvian television with them and also on Peruvian television giving a percussion workshop to a school in Cusco, in Spanish!
”The Community Outreach Department at the RNCM first met Dave as a student in 2004, it was clear from this early on that he had a gift for sharing his music with community groups, both young and old. From his final year as a student until the present day we have regularly employed Dave to run percussion workshops (mainly samba). The feedback we get is consistently good, I think this is because Dave is a very talented musician who has a real gift for imparting his knowledge in a fun and accessible way, no matter what kind of group he is working with he enables them to play music of a high quality and there is always a sense of personal achievement for all involved."
